Ski Dubai is the first indoor ski resort to open in the Middle East. The resort was made open to public last September 2005, and is located at
the heart of Mall of the Emirates, a shopping centre owned and managed by Majid Al Futtaim Group of Companies.
This Ski Dubai arena boasts a mountain-themed 22,500 square-metre space of skiing, snowboarding and tobogganing. If you just want to hang around and enjoy the nice temperature, there is also the 3,000 square-metre Snow Park dedicated to people who just want to play in the snow with some nice slides.
Ski Dubai is offering its guests the use of winter clothing, ski & snowboard equipment. This makes it easier for guests to just throw themselves in without worrying about the necessary outfit and equipment they need to use inside. Anyhow, you better bring another Sweatshirt, a scarf, some gloves and a hat, because it is really winter inside. It’s around 3 degrees celsius, meaning minimum 30 degrees celsius less than outside ;-)
Should guests prefer buying their own equipment, Ski Dubai has its own Snow Pro, a retail shop exclusively operating for them. You can also easily ask for consultation and easy tips from a team of professional instructors.
Ski Dubai also has some themed restaurants available; the St. Moritz Café at the entrance and the Avalanche Café at the mid-station.

Ski Dubai was announced as a joint winner in the Major Built Projects category of the British Expertise International Awards earlier this week.
This is the second major construction award in as many months for Ski Dubai, developed by MAF Investments as the signature feature of Mall of the Emirates. Last month, the project won the British Construction Industry International Award.
Tim Wade, chief executive of lead consultants Hyder Consulting, collected the award from the President of British Expertise, HRH Duke of Gloucester on behalf of the project team, which included main contractor, Al Naboodah Laing O'Rourke and project managers Mace.
For his part, Fuad Al Najjar, General Manager of Ski Dubai said,
'This award further demonstrates the appreciation by the construction industry towards a project with the magnitude of Ski Dubai, and that's obviously a very satisfying feeling for all those involved in the development of this project.'
Mr. Najjar added, 'We were very fortunate to have such a vibrant and innovative design and construction team who drove this project forward and pulled everyone together in a way not often seen in the construction industry. Overall, Ski Dubai is a project that in many ways showed the way forward for the industry on a global scale.'
Judges of the award were impressed with many aspects of Ski Dubai's design and construction. The high specification insulation on the 400m long structure ensures that the vast 'deep-freezer' has a relatively low energy demand, despite having to maintain sub-zero internal temperatures, when external temperatures can exceed 50 degrees centigrade. Not only is the internal air temperature maintained, but snow is produced all year round at a rate of 135 tonnes per day to a minimum depth of 3 feet covering an area the size of 3 football pitches. The result is a world class indoor snow experience with capacity for 1500 guests, which provides professional ski facilities to an urban desert community.
