Mark November 30 (Thursday) to December 2 (Saturday) 2006 on your calendar, as the much anticipated Dubai Rugby 7s will be happening on these dates. The organizers have announced the sale of the tickets from today. If you really want to support the event from the beginning, grab the season tickets. But if you can’t call Thursday a day off, then opt for the individually sold Friday and Saturday tickets (which you shouldn’t miss)!
Dubai Rugby 7s will be held at the Dubai Exiles Rugby Club, and this year’s event will be its 37th year. Emirates Airline is a major sponsor of this event, and 7Days has been chosen to be their official paper of the event this year to carry out a comprehensive guide towards and during the event.
It is estimated that over 12,000 overseas visitors will attend this year’s Dubai Rugby 7s. The event has significantly grown in terms of television airtime, number of visitors, venue capacity and its popularity itself.
Visitors will be entertained by the Aggreko Dynamos cheerleaders with their impeccable performance. The cheerleaders are said to be flown in from Australia, with their months of practice prior to the event to make sure that they live up to the hype of the event when they perform on site.
Planning to attend for the first time? To catch up, last year’s champion is England. The team has been a consistent champion for two years, beating Fiji in both finals.
Anticipate the volume of people coming - wear comfortable clothes, especially footwear, so you can move around the arena quite easily. Remember that from time to time you’ll have to buy some food and drinks as the game goes on. Expect long queues to the restrooms and food tents.
It will also be better if visitors leave their cars at home, as the organizers have arranged for up to 8 double-decker buses to go around and bring people back in the central locations of Dubai. Hundreds of taxis will also be available during the event to cater to those who live outside the central locations of Dubai.

Your guide to enjoying the entertainment, refreshments and merchandise on offer
Prepare to be amazed. You are going to have the time of your life at the Emirates Airline Dubai Rugby Sevens. And to make sure you get maximum enjoyment from this unique event, read on to see how you can best survive the biggest party in the Middle East.
Come early, it’s socially acceptable at the Dubai Rugby Sevens. There are some great games early on so don’t be afraid to turn up and settle in to watch all the action both on and off the pitch.
Drink plenty of water. Last the distance and enjoy every moment of the Dubai Rugby Sevens by keeping yourself hydrated.
Don’t wear designer clothes! Comfortable is standard, outrageous is acceptable.
Always smile and be polite to the “jovial” person behind you.
Take some time out to stretch the legs and stroll around the world-class stadium. You never know who you might run into, or what weird and wonderful sights you may see.
Don’t forget to check out the Rugby Village where you will probably end up partying away on the final night of the Sevens at the ‘Rugby Rock’.
Pace yourself! The Sevens is a marathon, not a sprint (unless, of course, you happen to have a rugby ball in your hands!).
Leave your car at home. There will be up to eight double decker buses and plenty of taxis available to transfer you back into Dubai.
Remember, if you have children with you, arrive early and settle in at the fully dedicated, alcohol-free family area.
Busses At Your Service
To help transport 30,000 revellers from the Dubai Exiles Rugby Ground at the end of each day’s play, up to eight double decker buses will be working overtime to bring people back into central locations in Dubai. The Big Bus company, the popular tourist bus service which shows visitors the delights of Dubai, will be on hand from 7pm until after midnight to transfer people around the city. And the best part – it’s free!
The buses will rotate every ten minutes and can hold up to 70 people each.“The message is very clear – we are asking people to leave their cars at home and utilise the buses at the end of the day to help ensure a smooth flow of people from the ground back into Dubai,” said Gary Chapman, President Group Services and Dnata, Emirates Group.
“We are very aware that people don’t want to be waiting in long queues at the end of all the fun at the Sevens and this system will offer the quickest and best way to move on to your next location.” Hundreds of taxis will also be available to transport people straight home
If Axiom is the best, I am dismayed at what this says about the level of service in Dubai. Axiom refused to fix it, claiming it was damaged by causes beyond their control.
